Magnet materials

ALNICO-Magnets
AlNiCo-Magnets are manufactured through sintering or casting. An additional machining is possible only through grinding. Our magnets have a cylindrical form, preferably with the favorable diameter-length ratio of 1:4.
Our AlNiCo-Magnets are basically anisotropic, that means with the production the magnets was already given a preferred direction of the magnetic characteristics. In this case the front sides of the bar magnet are north- and south pole. A magnetization in another direction is not possible.

Neodym-Magnets
Neodymium is an anisotropic permanent magnetic material developed in the eighties from iron and boron of highest magnetical quality. Its magnetical variables exceeds those of the best sarnarium cobalt materials around 10 to 20 %.
Neodymium is characterised by a demagnetisation curve, which runs straight-lined up to the coercive field strength BHc. Thus neodymium is suitable for very flat designs respectively applications with magnetic reverse fields.
During a magnetic system dimensioning the temperature behavior has to be considered. The reversible temperature coefficient of the remanence is approximately about -0,12 %/K, that of the coercive field strength JHC is approximately about -0,6 %/K. For the full magnetisation of neodymium magnetic field intensities over 2500 kAIm are necessary. Neodym is a very hard and bittle material so a metal-cutting machining is not possible, except throuh grinding.

Stability and aging

Permanent magnets have to be handled carefully, that means you should prevent crushes and strokes as well as interacting through wrong storage. In no case magnets should be supplied or stored on each other, that means never identical poles to each other. This causes a beträchtlichen Leistungsabbau.

Our magnets are supplied generally in the up-magnetized condition. An attenuation of the magnets can only occur by demagnetising fields. A structural change by aging is not to be expected with the two materials used.

During assembly of our magnets on ferromagnetic material it is recommended to install them with a distance of approx. 10 mm in order to avoid a loss of capacity.
